At GANBAROU! you will find a thorough and ambitious approach to martial arts. We strive for excellence, encouraging our students to aim high. Through rigorous training you will stretch the boundaries of your individual ability, forging within you the determination to walk the winding road towards your true potential.

Whatever it is that brings you to us, we aim to provide you with an environment that encourages you to test yourself in the company of others who are doing the same.

We are an ambitious club, and aim to get the best from our students: to develop self-control; discipline; compassion; and maturity. We know that through rigorous training our students can develop the qualities that will allow them to be of great value to those around them and to society at large.

The role of parents

Because we are not a place where our students come day in day out, our influence upon them is limited. The role of parents and guardians is, then, especially important, and we hope that you will support us in our aims. This will mean preparing your child for the type of training they will receive with us, and encouraging them to rise to each challenge that they face.

Young people cannot always see the larger picture; they may not have the experience that allows them to understand the value of persevering and training hard. To them it may appear to be fruitless hard work. They may want to give in, do something easier or more fun. As a parent or guardian, this is where you influence is particularly important. We can only be there for your child whilst they are with us in the dojo; it is you that must keep them strong the remainder of the time.

When your child comes to us, it is not only they who are in training: you are too. As their training partner, you must be strong when they are not; keep them coming if their will falters. As their primary role model, they will look to you for guidance and direction. Your role is crucial, and it is important that you understand our aims and support us in them.
