What is karate?

At its most basic, Karate is an effective system of self-defence. However, Karate is not only the learning of forms and techniques. In training the body we also train the mind. Indeed, for many of us the most difficult hurdle we will have to overcome will be a mental not a physical one. As a student of karate - a karateka - we strive toward personal excellence, not only in our Karate forms and techniques, but also in our mentality - in the way we think and act, both in and out-side of the dojo.

Through continuous dedicated training we will gain strength, discipline and focus that will help us in all aspects of our life.

Karate should not be violent: it should deny violence. Students are taught to be bold and gentle, and ultimately to seek perfection of character, self-control, confidence and humility.

We hope that Karate will be a positive force for you, empowering you to achieve victories not only within the Karate dojo, but also in many other areas of your life.

Taking a step into a new class may be a little daunting and we can easily make excuses. But the rewards of a healthier mind and body must be worth that one step?

We welcome male and female students, of all ages and levels of fitness. We welcome beginners and advanced students.
